Cabin beside the lake

Welcome - Cabin au bord du lac is a quaint little cottage with a French ambiance located on Portage Lake in Keweenaw's Upper Peninsula. It is only 5 minutes away from Michigan Tech University. It is located 3 miles north of Chassell on US 41 and 5 miles south of Houghton. The cottage sits overlooking Portage Lake and offers a scenic view of sunrises and sunsets over the water. The cottage offers year round accommodations for up to four individuals. High Speed Wireless Internet is available. The cottage is located just 30 feet from the lake and has access to a dock. There is great fishing in this area. The water is great for swimming, sandy and shallow for a long distance. The deck overlooks the lake and has a gas grill for your pleasure. It also has a quaint french table and chairs for your picnic pleasure. There is a fire pit on the premises near the cottage to have a campfire if you so desire with ample kindling and wood to keep you cozy.

Summer time

Summer is beautiful in the Keweenaw. Swimming, boating, fishing, golfing, hiking, biking, birdwatching, and abundant waterfalls are just some of the attractions. There are many tourist and historic sites to see in the Keweenaw Peninsula.

The Fall Season

The Fall has attracted people from all over the world for our colors. The trees are magnificent with the most gorgeous colors ever to be seen. Bird watching and deer hunting are dominant fall attractions in this area.

Winter visitors love the snow and close approximation to the ski hills, downhill and cross country. We have numerous cross country trails within a 5 mile radius. Michigan Tech has a great cross country ski trail system. Down hill skiers will find a great hill, Mount Ripley, only 10 minutes away as well as other ski hills the area. We also have ice skating rinks. There are numerous local outdoor and indoor community rinks. The plentiful snow and abundant open areas make it an attraction for snowshoeing and sledding as well.
